Authentic Living: Learning and Living Your Values

What I will learn?

  • Participants will discover their top 10 values
  • Participants will integrate tools that support value aligned action
  • Participants will create visual imagery that supports connection with and movement towards living one’s values in daily life
  • Participants will learn how their values relate to those of society, family and friends and how this information may be helpful in making choices and connecting with others.

Course Curriculum

Session 1: Introduction to Values
In this introduction session we will learn what values are, why they're important and what life experiences, people or messages may have influenced our values through our life.

Session 2: Discovering Your Top 10 Values
In this session you will choose one of two activities that will guide you through uncovering your top ten values.

Session 3: Living Your Top Values Daily
This session will explore four common value domains and how engaged we are in these areas in our day to day lives.

Session 4: Values Horizon and Exploring Barriers
Participants will create a visual that reflects their life course and values to date and use this tool as a touchstone in the coming week. Participants will engage in a mindfulness exercise to strengthen their connection to their core values.

Session 5: Circles of Influence
In this session participants will gain insight into the systems or people who have influenced their values and what to do next.

Session 6: Value Aligned Living- Decision Matrix Part 1
Participants will apply a useful decision making tool to a life decision they are considering to gain clarity into personal factors and values impacting their choices and experiences.

Session 7: Value Aligned Living- Decision Matrix Part 2
Participants will build upon the decision making tool from last session, incorporating the weight of their values into making a decision. Participants will consider how to incorporate others' into this process, should they find that helpful.

Session 8: Envisioning Your Values
Participants will create a personalized vision board that reflects their values.
